The IILA-International Italo-Latin American Organisation presents on exhibition at the Museo di Roma in Trastevere, from 5 October to 6 November 2022, the projects of the winner and finalists of the XIII PHOTO IILA Award, dedicated to Latin American photographers under 35.

The IILA Photo Prize 2022 is realised with the contribution of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (DGCS/MAECI), in collaboration with the Latin American member countries of the IILA and the Adams Experimental Centre of Photography.

THE THEME OF THE COMPETITION AND THE EXHIBITION
The photographers taking part in the 13th edition of the award were confronted with the theme V.A.S.! Vida, Agua, Salud, inspired by one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, namely goal number 3, Health and Wellbeing.  IILA, as a UN Observer, takes these issues forward in its work.

The Museo di Roma in Trastevere presents the photos of Natalia Ortiz (Colombia), the winner of this 13th edition, with her project entitled Huele a lluvia (2019) and, next to her, the works of all the prize finalists are on display: Tatiana Aristizábal (Colombia), honourable mention with the project El caballero del páramo (2022); Laura Voskian (Argentina), author of En el momento exacto, o muy cerca de lo que se indica como final (2018-2022); Tamara Zentner (Argentina), with Los diarios del cuerpo (2021); Jairo Bernal (Colombia), author of Sobreviviendo (2022); and Dina Colectivo - Fabiola Cedillo, Alessandro Bo, Fernanda Garcia (Ecuador), authors of Sobre el agua. Una historia de resistencia elemental (2021).

Also part of the exhibition is Santiago Carmona (Colombia), winner of the last edition of PHOTO IILA, following which he stayed for an artist residency in Rome where he created the work Repubblica Bananera a Roma (2021), presented this year for the first time.

THE ARTIST RESIDENCE for the winner of the PHOTO IILA Prize
In accordance with the regulations, the winner Natalia Ortiz will be hosted in Rome for a month-long artist residency to create a photographic project on the Eternal City. The work will then be presented as part of the next edition of the Prize, in the 2023 exhibition.

PHOTO IILA is one of the cultural cooperation projects aimed at fostering and promoting knowledge of emerging Latin American photography and opportunities for international collaboration.
