Valeriano Ciai ( 1928-2013) anthological exhibition retraces the itinerary of a roman figurative master of the second part of the XX century, through a selection of paintings works from 1959 to 2013.

30 paintings are exposed to documentary Ciai’s original and important presence in the roman art of the last 60 years, proposing it to the attention of the city and the district in which he was born and where he lived for a long time.

Ciai was a gentle and shy man and he worked isolated without any clamour. He participated to the less know artistic movement in the field of Italian representation, especially the roman one, between the 50s and the 60s.

After a phase of social realism, Ciai arrives at a form of existential realism, that finally comes, after an almost abstract moment, to the lyric evocation of a reality introduced in a memory and imagination dimension.
