Museo di Roma in Trastevere

Tribute to the city of Rome through the works of two artists from the Marches region: the photographer Giorgio Cutini and the sculptor Giuliano Giuliani.

Giuliano Giuliani has already worked more than thirty years in the sculpture, which he - since his first solo exhibition in Ascoli in 1975 - has always understood not as a declaration of weight and volume in space, but as a fragment, the memory of a lost integrity, evidence of life as a transit. These features are derived directly from the travertine that Giuliani has always used. The most sacred among the stones, an archaic material, contributes to the attempt to decipher an incompletion, finding its most secret soul.On display 6 large sculptures and 10 smaller ones, and 45 black and white photographs taken by Giorgio Cutini, all dedicated to the city of Rome, which aim to display the impression that the lights evoke to amazed and stunned visitors. They don’t just tell the moment but its extension into the memory. The city is inhabited by shadows and visions, dreams that become reality in a chain of images that invite viewers to take a walk into the unknown and the mystery. It is the memory of a city where you can find fragments of images that allow you to retrieve its history, its mysticism, its charm, its scent. Shadows is an exhibition of photographs and sculptures to represent in visionary and evocative terms the vibrant charm of Rome.
