ANNI INTERESSANTI. Momenti di vita italiana 1960 - 1975

The exhibition at the Museo di Roma in Trastevere is an ideal continuation of the previous fruitful collaboration between Roma Capitale - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and Istituto Luce represented by the exhibitions War is Over, which recounted the Italy of Liberation, and Il Sorpasso, a fresco of Italy at the dawn of modernity.

Anni interessanti borrows, and pays homage to, the title of the autobiography by Eric J. Hobsbawm, the great historian of the short century, and describes, with similar rapidity of synthesis and glance, the flight of a pivotal period, experienced by Italians as a race towards modernity. 124 images, all in black and white, from the first one, the completion of the construction of the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan, to the last one that portrays a free radio station born in 1975, in a non-didactic itinerary that prefers associations that are a sign of the temperament of a season of antinomies and lively contradictions.

The photos come from some of Italy's most historic photo agencies: VEDO and DIAL, whose funds are preserved in the great Archivio Luce; Publifoto Roma, and Archivio Farabola. Alongside the images of the great artists of reportage such as Gianni Berengo Gardin, Pino Settanni, Carlo Cisventi, Caio Mario Garrubba, one can see the work of photographers who have gone down in history proverbially as the paparazzi, authors capable of capturing society by stealth and surprise and of making scoops and at the same time costume criticism of refined aesthetics, but also anonymous photographs of the highest quality.

The exhibition is completed by a catalogue, edited by Enrico Menduni, published by Electa, with texts by the curator and by Chiara Sbarigia, president of Cinecittà, reproducing all the images in the exhibition, with a description of the photographic archives and a precious Regesto.
